A New Home for Aloha Animal Oasis

It’s been a little over a month since we officially opened our Aloha Animal Oasis shop and welcomed the clinic’s (surprise) resident to her new home – It seems like the purr-fect time to look back on how the dream of having our own space became a reality!

In the weeks leading up to opening day, countless volunteers worked tirelessly to get our new location in Kopiko Plaza (near the UPS store) ready for us to occupy. By the second weekend in January, we were ready to host our first clinics at last!

We marked this milestone with two Spay and Neuter clinics on January 10th and 11th. Our amazing volunteers embraced the brand new procedures and workflow like pros. And our skilled, dedicated veterinarians and vet techs made the clinics a huge success.

Aloha Animal Oasis Shop

From the bottom of our hearts, we are fur-ever grateful to all of you! Having an oasis of our own would not have been possible without the incredible community of people who showed up, stepped up, and gave their time, talent, resources, and hearts to make it happen … and the angel donor whose generosity and belief in our mission made it possible for us to finally have our own space for classes and clinics.

When the day came to host our first clinic, it seemed that the space had everything we could need, but there was still something missing. We were about to find out exactly what that something was… a runway!

Runway

A Cat Called Runway

One of our neighborhood trap queens trapped a tortie cat at the end of the Old Airport runway. When she brought the sweet cat into the clinic to be spayed, the trapper mentioned that she’d never seen this kitty at that location before.

We checked for a micro-chip and were surprised to find that this kitty did indeed have one. After researching the chip, we learned that the cat had actually been spayed by Aloha Animal Oasis at our May clinic in 2025. So we reached out to the contact who brought her in but unfortunately, no one ever responded – It seems that this beautiful, friendly tortie was dumped at Old Airport!

She sat in her trap, making biscuits and melting our hearts. Since she was incredibly thin, we gave her some food, which she quickly gobbled down. In that moment, we knew we couldn’t put her back outside – This sweet kitty was much too thin to survive on her own.

That’s when we realized what the Aloha Animal Oasis shop was missing – A cat! Initially she had some health issues, experiencing “stomach distress” that we had to clean up when we visited her every day. Eventually, her stomach calmed down and when we took a stool sample to the vet, they gave her a clean bill of health – Not a parasite to be found!

Runway

Since she was found at the end of the runway AND happens to walk like a super model strutting down a runway, it’s only fitting that we call her Runway. This little love bug runs up to anyone that comes in the door, quickly rubbing up against our ankles and jumping on our shoulders if we sit down.

Someone from Aloha Animal Oasis visits her daily but there’s one problem – she’s incredibly lonely! Once Runway gains some weight, we’ve determined she’s a great candidate for a program at the Whiskers & Wine Bar in San Diego, CA. The two-story cat cafe and lounge features a few wine bars and a rooftop catio. In partnership with various rescues, the Whiskers & Wine Bar provides a stress-free, cage-free residence for a rotating crew of at least 20 friendly, adorable, adoptable cats, all waiting to find their fur-ever home.

Having our own clinic space is a dream come true for Aloha Animal Oasis. Now it’s time to make Runway’s dream come true… to find a fur-ever home where she’ll be loved and cherished!
